Marc-Antoine BRILLANT
Head of the Vigilance and Protection Against Foreign Digital Interference Service (VIGINUM)
A graduate of the Saint-Cyr Special Military School, the War College, and ESCP, Marc-Antoine Brillant will become head of the vigilance and protection service against
foreign digital interference (VIGINUM) on October 15, 2023.
Within the Ministry of the Armed Forces, he has held various operational positions, including commanding combat units in the Near and Middle East, and more recently in the Sahel as head of operations for a tactical group.
In 2018, he joined the National Cybersecurity Agency (ANSSI) as advisor to senior management, in charge of operational and strategic affairs, before being promoted to deputy director of strategy.
In 2021, after leading the Honfleur Task Force, he was appointed as the forerunner of the national service VIGINUM.
On October 6, 2023, Marc-Antoine Brillant was appointed to the Secretary General of Defense and National Security as head of the service for vigilance and protection against foreign digital interference. He had previously been deputy head of the department since July 13, 2021.
A national department attached to the SGDSN, VIGINUM is responsible for protecting public debate from digital information manipulation campaigns involving foreign actors that
aim to harm France and its fundamental interests.
