Satish Kumar is an Indian peace activist and environmental thinker. A former Jain monk, he promotes a spiritual ecology linking non-violence, social justice and respect for life. Founder of Schumacher College and the environmental magazine Resurgence & Ecologist, he is a leading figure in ecological transition and sustainability education.

Satish Kumar's invitation to Paris includes a two-month stay at the Tallard Residence, a space for living and reflection initiated by KADIST in the heart of the city. Focused on the values of hospitality—understood both as a gesture of welcome and as an openness to the voices and experiences of the world—and multidisciplinarity, the Tallard Residence welcomes four to six thinkers, writers, researchers, artists, and international figures each year who are recognized for their innovative ideas and their impact on society. Its ambition is to highlight important contemporary ideas, amplify them, and embed them permanently in the French intellectual and cultural landscape as proposals for a shared world.
